Car rental price, is it expensive or cheap

February 2021

Car rental services in Ukraine is one of the cheapest in the world today, it can be stated with confidence close to 100%. The price of the rental made from the cost of cars in the country, namely, how much is the new and second-hand car value, because rental companies buy new cars are sold it in 2-3 years after use.

A significant price decline was due to the growth of the exchange rate in the country. The cost of economy class car ranged between 25-38 dollars for 1 day rental, but today it is 12-25 dollars for the same car, with the cost of cars in the showrooms themselves fell by 10-15%, and as we see, car rental costs fell by 60-100%.

Why did it happen and how to survive the rental company? Probably it was originally laid too much of a profit margin which can now be cut. This is not true!

Today, the car rental companies operate at the very bottom of the market and further reduce currency quotes lead to the complete disappearance of the fall and the market. As companies began to resort to buying a used car, which of course affect the quality of services, but will keep the price cheaper and somehow survive.

Looking from the point of view of Ukrainian consumer, the price of 12-25 dollars is not so cheap. After all, it is 310-650 UAH for 1 day rental, the average salary in 3500 UAH, but in terms of world prices and the cost of cars in Ukraine, the price of car rental is very cheap in Ukraine.

Cheapness rental in Ukraine can only be explained by the fact that the world is difficult to find a rental car for 12 USD with the purchase cost of the vehicle at a level of USD 9500. It is really a paradox. If you have income in foreign currency - do not buy a car - just use car rental in Ukraine.

For preparation of this article were tested on the car rental market in Kiev, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Odesa, Lviv, Zaporizhzhya, Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia. Taken figures the cost of cars in showrooms and the value of similar vehicles on the sale has been aged for 2-3 years.
